33rd Anniversary Gala and Miss Friendship Ambassador Pageant

Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce and TVB (USA) will be hosting the 33rd Anniversary Gala and Miss Friendship Ambassador Pageant on November 1, 2015 from 5:30 pm – 10:00 pm at the Hilton Chicago Hotel. This event will feature Nancy Loo, WGN-TV as emcee. Chinatown Business Luncheon featuring UIC Chancellor Michael Amiridis – August 26, 2015

University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Chancellor Michael Amiridis was the featured speaker at the Chamber’s Business Luncheon on August 26th at Phoenix Restaurant. Over 100 guests attended the luncheon to hear Chancellor Amiridis speak about how UIC is committed to working closely with the city, and developing relationships with its institutions, local government, services and strong community organizations such as the Chinatown Chamber of Commerce. 

Business Obligations Under the New Disability Rights Regulation of the Chicago Human Rights Ordinance 

On August 20, 2015, representatives from the Chicago Commission on Human Relations presented information at the Chinatown Chamber of Commerce regarding the new disability rights regulation enacted by the Chicago Commission on Human Relations. This new regulation will take effect on 1/1/2016. It is important that all businesses in Chicago are familiar with the new regulation and prepare to comply by January 1, 2016. An overview of the new regulation, which was distributed at the presentation, is available in English and Chinese. This document is for informational purposes only and is not inclusive of the new regulation provisions. DePaul University Class Visit

Students and faculty from DePaul University's Discover Chicago: Chicago Business & Society Class visited Chinatown on September 2nd as a part of their class curriculum. The students were given a tour of Chinatown and learned about how the Chamber operates and it's relationship with businesses in the neighborhood.

Explore Chinatown!  One Hour Walking Tour

Are you new to Chicago, have visitors in town, or a local who has not visited Chicago’s Chinatown?  Well, you are in luck!  The Chinatown Chamber of Commerce’s walking tour is great way to start your cultural adventure.  Experience and learn about traditional Chinese culture from our local tour guide.  Tours are scheduled on Fridays at 10:00 am. Job Opportunity

The Chinatown Chamber of Commerce is seeking to hire a Full-Time Operations Manager.  Responsibilities include oversight of various Chamber events and projects;  maintainence of Chamber website; managing technology resources; providing administrative support and other responsibilities.  Chinese language skills are a plus. Chicago Marathon

Asian Pop-Up Cinema

Join Asian Pop-Up Cinema in it's inaugural season. This innovative year round film festival will showcase Asian films (w/ English subtitles) at AMC River East 21 Chicago and at the Wilmette Theatre starting this fall. Opening night on September 16th featured a Welcome Reception at Lao Sze Chuan – Michigan Avenue and a screening of WOMEN WHO FLIRT at AMC River East 21. Chinatown Branch Library Grand Opening

The new Chinatown Branch of the Chicago Public Library was officially opened on Saturday, August 29th. This new state-of-the-art facility features early learning space designed for children birth to age 5; Chinese heritage collection of materials about art, astrology, culture and history of the Chinese-American Experience; programs and services for children, teens and adults and more.  Be sure to visit this beautiful new building located at 2353 S. Wentworth at the corner of Wentworth and Archer Avenues just a few steps away from the CTA Red Line Cermak Station.
