Fall is upon us as the leaves turn red and gold.  This is a great time to head to Chinatown to enjoy a warm bowl of hand-pulled noodle soups or cook your own meal at one of the many hot-pot restaurants!


33rd Anniversary Gala and 2015 Miss Friendship Ambassador Pageant

On November1st, the Chamber and TVB (USA) will be hosting the 2015 Miss Friendship Ambassador Pageant.  This event is not-to-be-missed!  Our pageant will feature contestants competing in evening gown, swimsuit, quipao and talent competitions.  Plus, there will be a raffle draw featuring many valuable prizes including a Delta One™ Business Class Air Ticket to Asia, $2,000 Cash Prize, Two-Night Stay at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas with Dinner at Lao Sze Chuan, Dinner for two at Piccolo Sogno Due with wine selections and much more!  Raffle tickets are only $5!  Be sure to purchase your event tickets today on line at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2181612

2015 Concierge Dinner Tour

The 2015 Concierge Dinner Tour took place on October 7th attracting concierges from all over the Chicagoland area. They were greeted by Chamber staff at a Welcome Reception hosted by Phoenix Restaurant. Following the reception, the concierges were escorted on a 45-minute walking tour of Chinatown by experienced Chamber tour guides. Following the tour, everyone was treated to delicious complimentary meals provided by Ahjoomah’s Apron, BBQ King and Emperor’s Choice.  To end the evening, the Chinese American Museum of Chicago opened their doors for our visitors to view its exhibits and a film about Chinatown.

Business Seminar: What the Healthcare Law Means for Your Small Business & The Self-Employed

The Chinatown Chamber of Commerce partnered with Geri Aglipay of the Small Business Majority to present important information on how the healthcare law affects small businesses and self-employed individuals.  This free seminar, held at the Chamber office was well attended providing participants with valuable information to be used for their businesses.

Bank of America Chicago Marathon

Chamber staff and volunteers cheered on the 45,000 runners who passed through Chinatown at Mile 22 on October 11th.  It was a sunny and beautiful day, perfect weather for the runners and spectators. After the race, visitors flocked to local restaurants and stores to enjoy what Chinatown has to offer.

Position Available

The Chinatown Chamber of Commerce is seeking to hire a Full-Time Operations Manager.  Responsibilities include oversight of various Chamber events and projects; maintaining relations with the Board of Directors and other community leaders; maintenance of Chamber website; managing technology resources; providing administrative support; communicating with visitors in person and via telephone to resolve inquiries; liaison to local and mainstream media; other responsibilities.  Chinese language skills a plus. Asian Pop-Up Cinema

Sophia’s Choice presents its next featured film “A Simple Life” featuring Andy Lau and Deanie Ip.  This film will be shown on November 3rd at the Wilmette Theatre and November 4th at AMC River East 21 in Chicago.  For more information go to www.asianpopupcinema.org
