HAPPY THANKSGIVING! The holiday season is upon us and we give special thanks to our Chamber members, sponsors, partners, collegagues, board of directors, volunteers, community organizations and leaders, staff and especially to you, our readers, who support the Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce throghout the year. You've been there to help us celebrate our Chinese culture and traditions including our Chicago Dragon Boat Race for Literacy, Annual Gala, Lunar New Year Dinner and more. We look foward to you visiting Chinatown during the holiday seasons, particularly this weekend during Small Business Saturday to purchase at our many gift, herbal and grocery stores and dine at the many regional restaurants throughout Chinatown.

34th Annual Chinatown Chamber of Commerce Gala – NEW FACES, NEW PLACES

Over four-hundred guests gathered at the Hilton Chicago Hotel to celebrate the Chamber's 34th Annual Gala – New Faces New Places on November 7th. We were honored to have Judy Hsu from ABC7 News as our emcee extraordinaire for the evening's activities. Chicago Chinatown's recent and upcoming developments were highlighted during the event. Guests were treated to a festive evening featuring an exciting fashion show with beautiful traditional and trending fashions from China and talented performances by singers Yiji Zhang and Song Yu Liu. Thank you to Luxy Bridal for assisting with the planning and execution of the fashion show. Also, thank you to our Miss Friendship Ambassadors Kelly Yee-Uchima, Jessica Kung and Victoria Ng who walked the runway along with Christine Vi, Tod Tatsui, Fiama Gaitan, Clare Lee, Kim Nguyen and Vaidehi Patel. Chinatown Business Luncheon featuring Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth

As part of the Chamber's Chinatown Business Luncheon Series, Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth was the featured speaker on October 11, 2016 at MingHin Cuisine. Congressswoman Duckworth talked about the various initiatives she has been involved in her role including her work with veterans and the Asian communities.

Illinois Lieutenant Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti Visit to Chinatown Chamber

The Chamber was honored to be visited by Illinois Lieutenant Governnor Sanguinetti on October 3, 2016 at the Chamber office. The Lieutenant Governor and Chamber board members discussed community issues, including access to healthcare, education and economic development.

Bank of America Chicago Marathon Sunday, October 9, 2016

Hundreds of spectators descended into Chinatown on October 9th to cheer on participants in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. As one of the 29 neighborhoods on the Marathon route, Chinatown is one of the runner's favorite spots. They were greeted with festive activities at the Chinatown Gateway at the intersection of Cermak and Wentworth which is located at approximately Mile 21.6. The Chamber hosted its own Cheering Section at 22nd and Wentworth.


Bernada "Bernie" Wong Way Street Sign Unveiling October 24, 2016

In celebration of Bernie Wong's retirement and four-decade commitment to the Chinese American Service League, a street sign at the corner of Princeton Avenue and Tan Court was unveiled on October 24th. Various dignitaries and community leaders joined the celebration speaking fondly of the many accomplishments Bernie has achieved.
