The relentless winter of 2013-14 in Chicago has been challenging. However, that didn’t stop visitors from coming to Chinatown to enjoy the shops, restaurants and attend the events hosted by the Chinatown Chamber of Commerce. Spring is just around the corner. Chicago Water Taxi will soon be running in April, bringing visitors down the Chicago River to Ping Tom Memorial Park. We will be announcing a Business Luncheon coming up soon and the 14th Dragon Boat Race for Literacy is scheduled for June 28th.


Entrepreneurship Networking Event

Chinatown Chamber of Commerce partnered with State Farm Insurance for an Entrepreneurship Networking Event on March 6, 2014 at Ming Hin Restaurant. Thirty-five guests attended the event which featured a panel of small business owners including Laura Sanchez, CEO Swatware, Calvin Lam, State Farm Agent and David Reynolds, Gold Coast Global. The panelists shared information on how they launched and main their successful businesses in the Greater Chicago neighborhoods.

ComEd Smart Meter Program

Sandor Williams and David Doherty from ComEd visited the Chamber on March 11th to discuss the new Smart Meter Program. Installations have begun in the Bridgeport area and will move to the Chinatown area around September 2014. Learn more about the program at or call 866-368-8326.

Ping Tom Pan Asian American Award – Asian American Coalition of Chicago

C. W. Chan, a member of the Chinatown Chamber of Commerce Advisory Board, was presented with the Ping Tom Pan Asian American Award at Asian American Coalition of Chicago’s Lunar New Year Dinner. On March 11, 2014, Vincente Sanchez representing Alderman Daniel Solis’s 25th Ward office, presented Mr. Chan with a letter of congratulations for his endless commitment, service and advocacy to the Asian American community.

Yum Cha | Dim Sum Parlor Now Hiring

Yum Cha | Dim Sum Parlor, one of our Chamber members, is now hiring for its soon-to-be-opened restaurant located in the Lakeshore East complex between Randolph Street and Benton Place. 14th Annual Dragon Boat Race for Literacy

Applications for Dragon Boat teams, sponsors and exhibitors are now being accepted for the 14th Annual Dragon Boat Race for Literacy which will take place on June 28, 2014 at Ping Tom Memorial Park located at 300 W. 19th Street Chicago, IL.
