The 14th Annual Dragon Boat Race for Literacy
THANK YOU to all of the amazing race teams, generous sponsors and partners, table vendors, food truck vendors, performers, our fabulous emcee Lakhi Siap and the many hard working volunteers that helped to make the 14th Annual Chicago Dragon Boat Race for Literacy so successful! Thousands of visitors descended on beautiful Ping Tom Memorial Park on June 28th to watch 30 teams race along the Chicago River. Every team performed to their highest level, building excitement at every race. Ultimately, there were three teams that won the final heats: 1st Place went to Grainger, 2nd Place was Full Effort Full Victory and 3rd Place was Pepsi. Chamber Business Luncheon Featuring Governor Pat Quinn
As part of its Business Luncheon Series, the Chamber hosted a luncheon on June 16th, 2014 featuring Governor Pat Quinn. The luncheon was held at Phoenix Restaurant with over 100 attendees present.
Lisa See featured at The Union League Club of Chicago Authors Group Luncheon
Lisa See, New York Times bestselling author of Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, Dreams of Joy, Peony in Love, and Shanghai Girls was the featured speaker at The Union League Club of Chicago Authors Group Luncheon on Monday June 23rd. Ms. See discussed her new book China Dolls and autographed copies for the attendees.
Members Night Event at Cirque Shanghai: Warriors Chicago’s Navy Pier
Chinatown Chamber of Commerce Members were treated to an exciting performance of Cirque Shanghai: Warriors on June 18th. Thrilling acts, lavish costumes and amazing acrobatic performances were enjoyed by all.
Forgotten Chinatown Tour
Back by popular demand, the Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce and Forgotten Chicago are bringing back its popular "Forgotten Chinatown" tour on August 3, 2014. This 2 1/2 hour walking tour will explore the early history of Chinatown and its surrounding environs, including industrial areas along the Chicago River where architecturally significant but overlooked factory structures still loom large. Historically significant storefronts, architectural oddities and other forgotten gems will also be examined. The tour begins at 12 noon on August 3rd in Chinatown. Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased on line at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/708436. The tour will go on rain or shine. No refunds and no walk ups.
Concerts in the Park with VanderCook College of Music – Presented by Lakeside Bank

Watch Party for the 2014 Inaugural LPGA International Crown
Watch the 2014 Inaugural LPGA International Crown for a preview of what is to come to Rich Harvest Farms when it hosts the 2016 LPGA International Crown. The Watch Party is a Free event held at The Stonegate located in Hoffman Estates, IL. During the Watch Party, Jerry Rich, President and Owner of Rich Harvest Farms, will be giving away Free Tickets to the 2016 LPGA International Crown in Sugar Grove, IL. McDonald’s Chinatown Summer Fair
The McDonald’s Chinatown Summer Fair, organized by Chicago Chinatown Special Events, celebrates its 35th year on Sunday July 20th from 10 am – 8 pm at Wentworth and Cermak Avenues in Chinatown. This FREE event will feature a dragon and lion dance, martial arts demonstrations, classical Chinese dance, music acts, children’s activities, vendor booths and much more. While you are enjoying all the festivities, be sure to stop by the shops, restaurants and bakeries located along Wentworth and Cermak.

Chinatown Tour Guides
The Chinatown Chamber of Commerce is seeking independent tour guides to assist with tours of Chinatown. This is not a staff position. Qualified candidates should send a resume including past tour experience and knowledge of Chinatown. Must be fluent in English. Chinese language skills are a plus, but not required. Include availability to lead tour groups during the weekdays and weekends. Inquiries regarding this position should be made via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
