Summertime has finally arrived! 

We hope you enjoyed attending the 15th Annual Chicago Dragon Boat Race for Literacy, Chinatown Summer Fair and VanderCook College of Music Concert.  There are more exciting events to come to Chinatown this summer!


Taste of Chinese Cuisine Wendella Boat Cruise w/Featured Fireworks – Wednesday, August 5, 2015

Come On Board and bring your appetite with you!
Enjoy a summer evening cruise on the waters of Lake Michigan while dining on a variety of regional Chinese cuisines. The cruise begins at beautiful Ping Tom Memorial Park in Chicago’s Chinatown where you will experience a guided tour down the historic Chicago River offering close-up views of the city’s iconic skyscrapers before you head out to sail on Lake Michigan.  During the cruise, enjoy a sampling of specialty dishes including Stir Fried Lobster w/ Ginger and Green Onions from Phoenix Restaurant; Chef’s Special Dry Chili Chicken from Lao Sze Chuan; Potstickers from Emperor’s Choice Restaurant; Crab Rangoon from Three Happiness Restaurant; Spicy Stir Fry Tofu from Phoenix Bean; Whipped Cream Fruit Cake from Chiu Quon Bakery, and MORE! 33rd Anniversary Gala and Miss Friendship Ambassador Pageant

Mark your Calendars!  Chinatown Chamber of Commerce’s 33rd Anniversary Gala and Miss Friendship Ambassador is taking place on November 1, 2015 at the Hilton Chicago Hotel.

Chinatown Business Luncheon featuring UIC Chancellor Michael Amiridis – August 26, 2015

Join the Chamber in welcoming UIC Chancellor Michael Amiridis at our Chinatown Business Luncheon on Wednesday August 26, 2015 from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm at the Phoenix Restaurant. Mr. Amiridis took office as Chancellor of the University of Illinois at Chicago in March 2015. He served from 2009-2015 as executive vice president for academic affairs and provost at the University of South Carolina at Columbia where he oversaw all academic functions. Business Obligations Under the New Disability Rights Regulation of the Chicago Human Rights Ordinance

The Chinatown Chamber of Commerce and Chicago Commission on Human Rights will host a Free presentation covering a review of the rights of the obligations of businesses with respect to the updated disability access standards effective January 2016.  Our speakers will be Abel Leon, CCHR Deputy Commissioner and Joanne Newsome, CCHR Human Rights Compliance Director. 15th Annual Chicago Dragon Boat Race for Literacy

CONGRATULATIONS to our 2015 winners of the Dragon Boat Race for Literacy! First Place was awarded to Team United Sky Dragons GS – United Airlines; Second Place was the Grainger Dragons and Third Place was Pan Pepsi – Pepsico.  The weather cooperated bringing in thousands of visitors to Ping Tom Memorial Park on June 27th to view exciting dragon boat races, watch amazing performances, learn about our vendor businesses and participate in children’s activities. Summer Concert in Chinatown Square – VanderCook College of Music

The VanderCook College of Music Concert and Jazz Band performed at Concert in the Chinatown Square on June 30th. The night began with the Community Drum Circle where the audience participated in playing African drums, tambourines and other instruments. There was a great turn out for the concert, with everyone enjoying modern songs such as “Uptown Funk” and traditional tunes including the Armed Forces Medley and songs from the Sound of Music. The concert was sponsored by the Chinatown Parking Corporation and organized by the Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce.

Explore Chinatown!  One Hour Walking Tour

Are you new to Chicago, have visitors in town, or a local who has not visited Chicago’s Chinatown?  Well, you are in luck!  The Chinatown Chamber of Commerce’s walking tour is great way to start your cultural adventure.  Experience and learn about traditional Chinese culture from our local tour guide.  Tours are scheduled on Fridays at 10:00 am. Night out in the Parks

The Chicago Philharmonic and Chicago Park District will present side-by-side concerts as part of the Park District’s 2015 Night Out in the Parks Series. The first program will take place on Saturday, August 1st in Ping Tom Memorial Park in Chicago Chinatown. Participation and attendance are free and open to the public.
