MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

As 2014 winds down, we at the Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce want to thank everyone who has supported us during the year including our Members,  Board of Directors, official and event Sponsors, donors, members of the media, volunteers, interns, staff and attendees at our various events, tours and business luncheons and many more. With your support we would not have had such a successful year.  We look forward to working with each of you again in 2015. THANK YOU!

Christmas Day in Chinatown

No plans for the Christmas Holiday?  No worries!  Chinatown restaurants and shops will be open all day for your last minute holiday gifts.  No need to cook, dine at more than 60 restaurants in Chinatown for dim sum, lunch or dinner.  It’s easy to get to Chinatown!

Business Safety Workshops

The Chamber hosted two free business safety workshops in partnership with the Chicago Police Department in December.  The first workshop held on December 4th was presented by Officer Al Garza of the 9th District who covered topics including safety tips for businesses, recognizing counterfeit money and handling customer issues.  

The second workshop held on December 10th was presented by William Townsell and Frank Fuscaldo from the CAPS Division offered tips on best practices to reduce crime, personal safety and provided guidance on common code violations.

Chinatown Herbalist Tour

On December 13th, the Chamber hosted its third Chinatown Herbalist Tour.  Led by tour guide Kathy Lai, attendees were taken on a 1 ½ hour tour of various herbal and ginseng stores through Chinatown.  They sampled gogi berries at Bark Lee Tong and sipped ginseng tea at CKJ Korean Ginseng.  At Kent Young Health Products Center they learned about acupuncture and other forms of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Business Delegation from Zhejiang Province Visit to Chamber

A delegation of six representatives from the Zhejiang Province in China visited the Chamber offices on December 8th.  Members of the Chinatown Chamber’s Board of Directors presented information about business and tourism in Chicago and the Chinatown community.  The delegates in turn provided information about their provincial area and encouraged developing trade relations.  This was an interesting and productive meeting.
