2014–2015 Chinatown Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors

On August 5, 2014, the Chamber’s new Executive Committee and Board of Directors were sworn into their new roles by Alderman Danny Solis of the 25th Ward during an Inauguration Ceremony at the Phoenix Restaurant.  Congratulations to everyone!  Their dedication and commitment to Chinatown and its business community is to be commended. Chinatown Summer Fair

On July 20, 2014, over ten-thousand people came to Chinatown by car, water taxi, public transit, bikes and other means to enjoy the Chinatown Summer Fair.  A lion dance procession welcomed guests and the Jesse White Tumblers, Cirque Shanghai-Warriors, and a variety of other amazing performances entertained the crowds.

Forgotten Chinatown Tour

The popular Forgotten Chinatown Tour took place on Sunday August 3, 2014.  Over thirty visitors learned about the history of Chinatown, its iconic buildings and the surrounding industrial areas.

Chicago Water Taxi

Chicago Water Taxi and new Chamber Board Member, Andrew Sargis, were featured in an article in the World Journal.  A record number of visitors rode the Chicago Water Taxi to Chinatown in July.  Don’t miss out on taking this ride along the Chicago River.  Schedules and routes can be found at http://www.chicagowatertaxi.com/.

CAPS Meeting in Chinatown

Attend the next Chinatown CAPS Meeting on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 6:30 pm.  The meeting will be held at the Chinatown Branch of the Chicago Public Library located at 2353 S. Wentworth. CAPS stands for the Chicago Alternative Police Strategy which focuses on building partnerships with community residents and working with them proactively to address the immediate conditions that give rise to public safety issues, such as crime, social disorder, and fear of crime.
