2014 Mayor Harold Washington Legacy Award

Darryl Tom, Chinatown Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Member, received the 2014 Mayor Harold Washington Legacy Award for his community activism.

Redmoon Theatre presents Bellboys, Bears and Baggage – May 22 – June 8, 2014

Drawing on the epic tradition of Redmoon’s large-scale spectacles, comes it’s newest indoor production 2014 Spring Spectacle Bellboys, Bears and Baggage. This massive, new production is an environmental exploration of love, loss, and the baggage we all carry through our lives. The show draws inspiration from Shakespeare’s most well-known and enigmatic stage direction “Exit, pursued by a bear”. Bellboys, Bears and Baggage is an immersive, site-specific theater experience with 17,000 sq. ft. of theatrical spectacle and interactive possibilities. Audiences are introduced into this richly detailed and poetic world in intimate groups every 30 minutes throughout the duration of each. For more information please visit their website.

Midwest Asian Health Association – Hepatitis B Awareness Event

The Chinatown Chamber of Commerce partnered with Midwest Asian Health Association to.sponsor the Hepatitis B Awareness event. The successful event brought many visitors to Chinatown Square who took advantage of free health screenings for Hepatitis B, cholesterol and blood pressure testing.

CAPS Meeting

The next CAPS meeting for Beat 914 will take place at the Chinatown Library located on 2353 S. Wentworth Ave. Chicago, IL 60616 on Wednesday May 28, 2014 at 6:30 PM. A recap of the crime in the Chinatown area will be discussed.

Administrative Assistant

The Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce is currently hiring for a full-time Administrative Assistant.  Job responsibilities include, but not limited to, providing administrative support to staff, responding to walk-in, telephone and email inquiries, managing social media accounts, maintaining website statistics data, assisting with event and volunteer management and other duties.  Chinese language skills are a plus, but not required. Chinatown Tour Guides

The Chinatown Chamber of Commerce is seeking independent tour guides to assist with tours of Chinatown. This is not a staff position. Qualified candidates should send a resume including past tour experience, knowledge of Chinatown and the Chinese culture. Must be fluent in English. Chinese language skills are a plus, but not required. Include availability to lead tour groups during the weekdays and weekends.
