Community Affairs

Chinatown Chamber as it originatesto promote Chinatown has led to community representatives named to various government boards. The Chamber receives support and works collaboratively with the City of Chicago and state for community development. Today, the chamber hosts concerts, a beauty competition, performances, and the Chicago Dragon Boat Race for Literacy at Ping Tom Memorial Park in July.

Chicago Mayor Emanuel visiting Chinatown. The Chamber daily operation is to assist in the Chicago Chinatown business development which includes real estate information and procedures such as referrals to obtain licensing in collaboration with the City of Chicago, Small Business Center division. The Chamber works in partnership with the Small Business division to host forums and expo.

In the Chinatown operations, the Chamber works very closely with the Alderman Solis’s office and in collaboration with all alderman representing Chinatown. Functioning as a Chinatown, we could not do without the service of the police department, department of streets and sanitation, and various organizations that offer services to Chinatown. This is particularly for events where we often draw over 10,000 people.

The Chamber works in collaboration with CMAP in zoning and community development.
